From the pulpit, at a podium, around a table, on the page, or via video podcast, Rabbi Jennifer Krause delivers compelling spiritual insight to people of all backgrounds with an innovative mix of sacred text and contemporary culture. She is the author of The Answer: Making Sense of Life, One Question at a Time (Perigee), and her work and commentary have been featured in publications such as Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, Jewish Living, Jewish Woman, The New York Times, and O, The Oprah Magazine.

Whether in front of audiences at Manhattan’s 92nd Street Y alongside Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, Sex and the City writer Cindy Chupack, or actor Leonard Nimoy; in a roomful of 1,200 industry leaders and entrepreneurs in Austin at the annual Texas Conference for Women; facilitating film-driven discussion as a guest of NBC’s Jeffrey Lyons; as the closing keynote speaker for the general assembly of the United Jewish Communities, or in more intimate sessions at the Aspen Institute; on the pages of newspapers and magazines, or in the chapters of her book, Rabbi Krause speaks to diverse audiences of all ages in every setting. She has served as the Marvin & Edward Kaplan Lecturer in Jewish studies at the City College of New York and is the high holidays rabbi at the 92nd Street Y—the first woman in the Y’s 135-year history to hold this post. She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis and of the Hebrew Union College–Jewish Institute of Religion. Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Rabbi Krause makes her home today in New York City.

Steeped in ancient wisdom and time-honored traditions, and with a keen sensibility when it comes to the issues that matter most in American culture and society, Rabbi Krause always brings a stirring perspective that resonates with diverse audiences, no matter what the topic. When her article, “The Ones Who Turn Up Along the Way,” ran in Newsweek during the Thanksgiving week following 9/11, one letter to the editor said it best: “Rabbi Jennifer Krause is inspiring…While Americans around the country give thanks, as the Pilgrims did, for the right to worship as we please, Krause finds comfort in our diversity. Her words capture the essence of life in America: We’re all in this together.”
